How Food Inventory Tracker processes account, household, inventory, device, and support information.

Last updated: July 21, 2026.

This policy explains how Food Inventory Tracker processes information through the iPhone app, Apple Watch companion, website, and support channels.

Information processed by the app

  • Account information: Sign in with Apple identifier, Firebase user identifier, display name, profile nickname, and default household reference.
  • Household information: household names, membership and invite records, storage locations, item names, barcodes, quantities, minimum quantities, expiration dates, archive state, and inventory activity.
  • Product interactions: inventory additions, restocks, usage, transfers, and related activity used to provide history, metrics, and insights.
  • Approximate location: optional coarse location used with Apple WeatherKit for weather-aware suggestion context. It is not used for advertising or tracking.
  • Scanning: the camera is used for barcode and package-label scanning. Barcode lookups may send the barcode to Open Food Facts to retrieve product names, brands, package details, images, and related product metadata. Package-label text recognition occurs on the device and should be reviewed before saving.
  • Apple Reminders: Reminders access is used when you choose to create or verify low-stock reminders.
  • Apple Watch: the paired Watch stores a local household inventory summary snapshot for offline display and can be refreshed from the iPhone.
  • Support diagnostics: recent app logs and app, device, account, and household context may be attached only when you initiate a Bug Report and choose to send or share it.

How information is used

  • Authenticate accounts and protect household access.
  • Synchronize shared inventory between authorized household members.
  • Provide inventory, low-stock, expiration, reminder, history, metrics, and insight features.
  • Process account-data, deletion, support, and troubleshooting requests.
  • Maintain service security, reliability, and abuse prevention.

Services involved

Food Inventory Tracker uses Apple services for Sign in with Apple, WeatherKit, Reminders, camera access, and Apple Watch connectivity. Google Firebase provides authentication, Firestore synchronization, and server functions. Barcode lookups may send a barcode to Open Food Facts to retrieve product information and associated public product metadata. Web Hosting Canada hosts this website and related email services.

Recognized package-label text is processed on device and is not submitted as an image to Food Inventory Tracker servers. Any suggested text or product lookup result should be reviewed before saving it to household inventory.

Sharing and tracking

Food Inventory Tracker does not sell personal information, does not include advertising SDKs, and does not use household inventory for cross-app tracking. Information is shared with service providers only as needed to operate the requested features or respond to support and legal obligations.

Retention and deletion

Account and household information is retained while needed to provide the service and maintain shared household records. Account deletion can be initiated in the app after active household ownership and membership are resolved. Deleting one member’s account does not delete shared information still used by remaining household members.

Your choices

You can decline optional camera, location, Reminders, and Watch features through Apple system settings. You can request account data or privacy support by contacting privacy@foodinventorytracker.app. General support, bug reports, and feature requests are routed separately through the Support page.

Website data

The public website does not currently provide public user accounts, comments, or advertising analytics. The hosting provider may process standard server logs needed for security and reliable website delivery.

Security

Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used to protect account and household information. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

This policy may change as the product and its services evolve. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date on this page.
